Still On Vacation!

IMG_8213But then God bestowed a sweet blessing upon us. An unexpected pit stop (after three days in Savannah and a quick stop in Charleston) in a quaint town called St. Augustine, Florida. After our quick retreat from Panama City (and we’ll never go back) we weren’t expecting our halfway-to-St. Petersburg destination to be so great.Since my last post, we’ve experienced:
Panama City (couldn’t get out of there fast enough).
A beautiful carriage ride through Savannah, Georgia (my fav place)
Beignets at Huey’s on the river (far superior to New Orlean’s Café Du Monde beignets)
A three-day stay at an old warehouse-turned-cool-hotel (River Street Inn) in Savannah
Dinner at Paula Dean’s restaurant Lady & Sons the night before her downfall
Lunch, family style, at Mrs. Wilkes’ Boarding House (she taught Paula Dean to cook)
The Southern beauty of garden squares and unique homes in Savannah
A day of Benadryl-zoned sight seeing in Charleston (and I only took ½ dose)
Ninety minutes in a Laundromat (we needed clean clothes)
A taste of alligator tail in St. Augustine, FL—Chris ordered the meal, I had salad
A walk on the Gulf of Mexico coast in St. Petersburg, FL (where our vacay ends)
More hours than I’d like to count racking up miles in the rental carSo, the next time I post, I will be back in my cozy office in historic Volcano (God willing.)
